At a rally in Tehran in front of the Planning and Budget Organization, teachers held placards protesting the monetization of education and teachers' salaries below the poverty line, but this peaceful rally turned violent when confronted by plainclothes security forces.

At least 15 people have reportedly been arrested in the security forces' raid.

Mohammad Habibi, a member of the board of directors of the Tehran Teachers' Association, Mohammad Taghi Fallahi, Secretary General of the Tehran Teachers' Association, Rasoul Badaghi, Inspector of the Tehran Teachers' Association, Ali Zulfi, Mohammad Hassan Poureh, Esmaeil Gerami, and Alia Eghmad Doost are among those arrested.

The Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Unions described the attack on the teachers' gathering in a statement as a "bitter incident" during which "not only were the citizenship rights of the country's teachers trampled under the feet of uncivilized and inhumane decisions, but it also became very clear that the legalism and democracy that some officials claim on various platforms are nothing more than a mirage."
