Confronting Iran and strengthening relations are the two goals of Bennett's trip to the United States.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is heading to Washington to meet and discuss with US President Joe Biden. The two stated goals of the trip are to confront Iran's nuclear program and correct errors in Israeli-US relations.

On Tuesday, August 24, Naftali Bennett will travel to Washington. He will meet and hold talks with US President Joe Biden. This is Naftali Bennett's first official visit to the United States since becoming Israeli Prime Minister.

Agence France-Presse, publishing a report from Jerusalem, said that finding a joint solution to confront the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear activities is one of the main goals of Bennett's trip to the United States.

Bennett and Biden are scheduled to meet and discuss on Thursday, August 26. Political relations between Israel and the United States have been damaged following Joe Biden's victory and Netanyahu's stance against Democrats in the United States.

Israel has always followed a “bipartisan policy” in regulating its relations with the United States. In other words, before Netanyahu’s term, the country tried to regulate its relations with the White House regardless of which party was in power in the United States.

Netanyahu broke this rule of Israeli foreign diplomacy. Not only had he openly criticized Barack Obama's policies, but he had also openly expressed his support for Donald Trump, repeatedly calling him Israel's best friend in the White House.

Correcting errors

Now, it is said that Naftali Bennett is traveling to the United States with the aim of strengthening Israel's relations with the United States. Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also emphasized a similar approach during his June visit to the United States, meeting with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken.

Lapid had said: "There have been mistakes in the past few years. Israel's bipartisan politics have been damaged. We are committed to correcting these mistakes, with the support of America."

Naftali Bennett's approach towards sanctions on the Islamic Republic and its nuclear activities is also similar to the policy that Netanyahu pursued towards Iran.

Bennett is a staunch opponent of lifting sanctions on the Islamic Republic. He stated on the eve of his trip to the United States: “I will tell President Joe Biden that the time has come to stop Iran’s actions. And they should not be given breathing space by returning to a nuclear deal that has expired.”

Naftali Bennett has announced that Israel has prepared a plan to counter the Islamic Republic's nuclear activities over the past two months, and he will inform Biden of this plan.
