High waves and flooding in Dir port leave one dead, 5 missing, and 20 injured

A natural phenomenon that resulted in high waves and flooding in parts of Bushehr province left one dead, five missing, and 20 injured.
The head of Iran's Crisis Management Organization told ISNA news agency on Sunday, March 10, that the rare phenomenon of "Sish" caused high waves and water currents to enter the coast of Bandar Dir, Asaluyeh, and Nakhl Taghi in Bushehr province, and in addition to leaving a number of injured and missing people, it also caused damage to buildings and boats.
Ismail Najjar said that this rare phenomenon occurs with strong air currents and winds, sometimes causing waves as long as 30 meters.
According to him, a number of those injured in the accident were Nowruz travelers.
In this regard, the head of the emergency department also announced that out of the 20 injured in the accident, eight were in critical condition and were taken to the hospital.
According to him, the water has receded in these areas of Bushehr province, but emergency forces are still on alert.
According to Mehr News Agency, Hamzeh Etemad, the governor of Dir, also said that the body of one of the victims of the sea water flooding phenomenon was found in the city before Sunday morning.
The incident also damaged about 300 fishing and recreational boats in Dir County.
Bushehr province and several other southern provinces of Iran also faced severe flooding and inundation last month following heavy rainfall in the southern regions of Iran. The southern regions of Iran are considered one of the main destinations for Nowruz travelers during the Nowruz holiday.
