12-year-old becomes world's youngest chess grandmaster

American chess player Abhimanyu Mishra broke the record for the youngest chess grandmaster at just 12 years and 4 months.
This record was previously held by Sergey Karakin, who achieved the title in 2002 at the age of 12 years and 7 months.
Abhimanyu Mishra became the youngest International Chess Master when he was 10 years and 9 months old.
After recent games in Budapest, Abhimanyu and his family are looking forward to him achieving the title of elite grandmaster while still a teenager.
Abhimanyu learned chess at the age of two and a half, and at the age of seven, he became the youngest chess expert in America.
He was unable to earn his new title due to the coronavirus pandemic, but he managed to shine in the chess grandmaster tournament by traveling to Budapest.
He managed to reach a rating of 2600 in the Budapest tournament.
"Finally, I have defeated my biggest opponent (the current pandemic) who stopped me for 14 months. Thank you everyone for your love and support. Looking forward to the World Cup," Abhimanyu wrote on Twitter.
