American network's view of the elections in Iran; Young people are not participating and consider it "a joke"

The American television network CNBC reported on the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Islamic Republic, writing that these elections are dominated by extremists, while Iranian youth have refused to participate in the Iranian elections and even consider the very existence of parliament in the current situation "a joke."

The report, published on Wednesday, February 20, says 7,148 candidates are competing for 290 parliamentary seats; but many of the country's youth, especially in Tehran, have said they will stay home and not vote.

A number of young people in their 20s told the network's reporter that the elections will not change anything and therefore they will not participate in them. One of the young people said: "They have decided everything in advance and without considering the parliament. Therefore, participating in the parliamentary elections will not change anything."

The Islamic Consultative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on Friday, March 2nd.
