Russian passenger plane crashes near Moscow

A Russian passenger plane carrying 71 people crashed shortly after takeoff from an airport outside Moscow. None of the passengers survived.

A Saratov Airlines passenger plane with 65 passengers and six crew members on board crashed shortly after taking off from the runway near Moscow on Sunday, February 11.

The Antonov AN-148 aircraft took off from Domodedovo Airport bound for Orsk in the Urals region and crashed shortly after, 70 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

According to AFP, the crash site was in the Ramensky district of the Greater Moscow region.

Russian news agencies, citing eyewitnesses, reported that residents of the village of Argunovo saw a plane on fire in the sky. The plane crashed a short time later.

A representative of the Russian rescue services told the Interfax news agency that the plane's passengers "had no chance of survival."

The Russian Transport Minister subsequently announced that none of the passengers survived.

According to Interfax, the wreckage of the plane was scattered along a one-kilometer-long path.
