Vasily Nebenzia: Israel is an occupier and has no right to defend itself

Vassily Nebenzia, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, declared that Israel is an occupier and has no right to defend itself.

According to "Arti Arabi", Vassily Nebenzia, during a speech at the extraordinary session of the UN General Assembly, while supporting Palestine, said: "First, it is necessary to stop the bloodshed and prevent the crisis from spreading to the entire region, otherwise this war will never end."

"We want to allow the mediators to find a diplomatic solution, including the rapid release of prisoners. Sooner or later, this path must be taken. But the question is, how many innocent people will lose their lives in the meantime?"

Nebenzia's remarks came as Russia bombed 118 Ukrainian towns and villages in 24 hours on Sunday. Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klimenko said the Russian shelling of Ukraine was the most intense daily bombardment this year. He said 10 of Ukraine's 27 regions had been hit, causing many deaths and injuries.

Now, Vasily, the Russian official, has declared regarding Hamas' surprise attack on Israel that started the war: "Israel has no right to defend itself in the current conflict, because it is an occupier."

Vassily Nebenzia, while accusing the UN of not having the right to give Israel full authority for ground operations in Gaza, added: "The goal of our American counterparts is not only to divert attention from their political failures and blame Iran and Hezbollah for all the problems, but their mission is to try to push the Security Council to legitimize Israel's ground operations in Gaza. Like what we saw in the invasion of Libya in 2011. The Security Council has no right to give Israel such authority."
