US State Department will not host Ramadan party

Two US government officials say the US State Department will not hold Ramadan ceremonies this year.
According to Reuters, the Ramadan Iftar ceremony, or Eid al-Fitr ceremony, has been held at this ministry every year since 1998.
However, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson rejected the request from the State Department's Bureau of Religious Affairs and International Affairs to hold Ramadan ceremonies, saying that the State Department has no official plans for Ramadan this year.
However, a State Department spokesman told Reuters that the department is still pursuing Eid al-Fitr ceremonies, and that US ambassadors around the world hold Ramadan ceremonies in their countries of mission every year.
