After two months, the official number of coronavirus cases in Iran has returned to above 3,000 per day.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health announced the identification of 3,117 new patients infected with the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

During the coronavirus outbreak in Iran, since April 1 of this year, the number of newly identified cases had dropped below 3,000, and this is the first time in sixty days that the number of new cases has again exceeded 3,000 per day.

Kianoush Jahanpour, who announced the daily coronavirus statistics on Tuesday, June 4, said that 64 more patients with coronavirus had died in the past 24 hours, adding: "The provinces of Hormozgan, West Azerbaijan, Isfahan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Bushehr are in a state of alert."

Thus, according to official statistics from the Ministry of Health, 157,562 people have been infected with the coronavirus and 7,942 have died across the country.

Mr. Jahanpour also said that so far, 123,077 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals, and 2,565 patients in severe condition are under care.

The Ministry of Health's statistics on the coronavirus situation in Iran are being published at a time when some members of parliament and city council members have previously accused the Ministry of Health of concealing the number of deaths and infections from coronavirus.

The Parliamentary Research Center previously estimated in a report that the number of deaths was double and the number of infected people was 8 to 10 times higher than the Ministry of Health's figures.

The upward trend of the spread of Corona continues in Bushehr and East Azerbaijan

Behrouz Mahdavi, the governor of Tabriz, told Tasnim News Agency that the situation in Tabriz has again "reached a state of alert" and the number of infected people between the ages of 15 and 25 has also increased.

He said that wearing masks will be mandatory on the Tabriz metro and buses, and that some job restrictions are likely to be tightened.

The governor of Tabriz also emphasized that the number of hospitalized and deceased patients has decreased by 50 percent, but "the overall trend of infected patients is upward."

In Bushehr, Saeed Kashmiri, the president of the city's University of Medical Sciences, said that the spread of the coronavirus and the incidence of the disease in this province has been "increasing" for the past month.

He announced the total number of infected people in the province as 1,126 and said that 14 people have also lost their lives.

For the past three months, provincial statistics on coronavirus infections and deaths have not been announced in different provinces, and this is one of the few cases where a local authority has officially announced the coronavirus statistics at the provincial level.
