Four prisoners were executed in Birjand Prison

At dawn today, Tuesday, the death sentences of four prisoners were carried out in Birjand Prison.

At dawn today, Tuesday, May 1, the death sentences of four prisoners on drug-related charges were carried out in Birjand Prison, including one woman.

According to published reports, these prisoners were arrested on charges of drug crimes and then sentenced to death by the judicial authorities. The identities of three of them are "Mehdi Ashtrak" from the village of Sahrah Mirzakhun in Zahak County, "Mohammad Shahbakhsh" and "Mahmoud Gargij" from Zahedan.

It should be noted that the news of the execution of these individuals has not been announced by prison officials or government institutions to this point.

The execution of the aforementioned individuals on charges related to drug crimes, and many others who have been executed for this reason, took place while the Islamic Republic government itself is one of the largest importers of drugs from other countries.

According to annual statistics published by the Statistics Center and the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, last year (1402) at least 767 citizens, including 21 women and 2 children, were executed, of which 7 were executed in public.
