Haft Tappeh sugarcane and Khuzestan National Steel workers gather

Reports indicate that a group of workers from various companies in Iran gathered to protest the non-payment of wages.

According to news and images published on social media, workers of the National Iranian Steel Industrial Group gathered in front of the Khuzestan Governorate on Saturday, November 9, for the umpteenth time in recent months.

These workers protested the non-payment of their salaries for four months and the lack of raw materials for production, and announced that various parts of the factory, including pipe manufacturing, were on the verge of closure due to the lack of raw materials.

At the same time, workers at the Haft Tappeh sugarcane complex also went on strike to protest the non-payment of wages for three months. The protesters believe that the private sector employer is not capable of managing the factory and that the workers' council can run the Haft Tappeh sugarcane complex better than the employer.

These two production units have witnessed worker protest rallies many times in the past year.

The Ahvaz National Steel Factory was launched by Amir Mansour Arya's investment group, but following allegations of financial corruption against Amir Mansour Arya and some of his partners, the management of the factory was transferred to the private sector under the supervision of the judicial system, but ownership of the complex was returned to Bank Melli in May of this year.
