Two Ahvaz police officers killed by “masked” gunmen

In the early hours of May 15, two police officers in Khuzestan were shot dead by unknown assailants. “Masked” gunmen attacked a police station in Ahvaz and opened fire on the officers.

Ali Ghasempour, deputy chief of police for Khuzestan province, announced that two officers from the Ahvaz police command were killed. Two police officers were also injured in the attack.

The deputy police commander of Khuzestan, while referring to the killing of the two officers following an “armed attack by unknown individuals,” said that “efforts to identify and arrest the attackers” had begun from the very first moments after the attack.

The Young Journalists Club News Agency, close to Iranian security forces, announced the exact time of the attack at 1:05 a.m. on Monday (May 15).

The news agency wrote about the details of the incident: "A number of masked armed thugs attacked the guard at the entrance to the police station in the 22nd Mojahed Alley in Ahvaz, injured him, entered the police station, and started shooting."

The deputy police commander of Khuzestan said: "In the armed attack on this police station, the armed individuals fled the scene after opening fire on the officers."
