A doctor in Iran says medical staff are under pressure to misreport coronavirus death tolls

A doctor working at a hospital in Shiraz, who asked not to be named, shared a story with us, saying that out of every five deaths from the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 is listed as the actual cause of death for only one.
According to the doctor, they were asked to state reasons such as acute respiratory illness or heart attack for the majority of coronavirus deaths.
He also complains about the severe shortage of facilities available to medical staff, saying they only have three masks for every 24 hours.
As of Wednesday, April 3, 2020, the Islamic Republic's authorities had officially announced 3,036 deaths and the total number of infected people had reached 47,593. This figure comes despite a World Health Organization official saying that the figures announced by Iranian authorities on the number of people infected with the coronavirus are only one-fifth of the actual number of infected people.
