Uncertainty Over Christian Citizen “Ghazal Marzbanjorshiri” in Evin Prison

“Ghazal Marzbanjorshiri”, a Christian citizen, has been living in uncertainty in Evin Prison since November 6th.

Ghazal Marzban, 41 years old and a law graduate from Lasht Nesha in Rasht, is a resident of Tehran. She was arrested by security police forces in Tehran on November 6th and transferred to Evin Prison. It should be noted that at the time of her arrest, she was severely beaten by security forces, resulting in damage to her ribs.

The charges against her are listed as “propaganda against the system” and “removing the hijab”. Now, after 22 days have passed since her arrest, she remains in an uncertain status in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.

The Islamic Republic government has repeatedly, on flimsy grounds and without valid documents or evidence, imprisoned many Christian citizens solely because of their beliefs, kept them in uncertain status for extended periods, and sometimes released them on very heavy bail pending trial, ultimately issuing prison sentences against them.

Religious and faith minorities have been subjected to harassment, torture, and persecution by the regime since the revolution until now, with the intensity of these pressures and harassment increasing every day.
