Elon Musk: Different Rendition of ‘Last Supper’ at Olympics Opening Ceremony Was an Insult to Christians

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, considered the different rendition of the ‘Last Supper’ at the Olympics opening ceremony to be an insult to Christians.

The opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympic Games took place last night, July 26, in France. Despite promises of being different and special, the ceremony was marked by unpleasant events that drew serious reactions and criticism.

The philosophy of the Olympics is rooted in concepts of peace, unity, and fair competition. The Olympics are held based on initial objectives to promote friendship and solidarity between nations and cultures, serve as a bridge for establishing communication between different peoples, and advance the world toward enhanced culture, respect, equality, and human rights through sporting and cultural events.

One of the most important controversial topics at this contentious opening ceremony, which drew considerable criticism, was the subject of human rights and insults to sacred beliefs.

During the ceremony, a group of “drag queens” and dancers performed a display that appeared to be a parody of the ‘Last Supper.’ This performance sparked negative reactions and severe criticism from social media users and some politicians. Some viewed the performance as an insult to Christianity, while others described it as historical and a symbol of unity and peace. According to a New York Post report, at the center of the performance, a majestic woman with a large silver crown resembling the halo seen in paintings of the Last Supper smiled and formed a heart shape with her hands, while her colleagues stared at the camera, then began to dance.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, while condemning the performance, stated that it was disrespectful to Christians. Some users also praised the performance as a historical event, especially after three drag queens carried the Olympic torches for the first time. Drag queens are individuals who, as a form of artistic performance, wear exaggerated clothing, heavy makeup, and sometimes portray different characters. These individuals typically take to the stage in the form of a show or performance, dressed in women’s clothing and special makeup.

It appears that the four-hour opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, rather than serving as the beginning of a sporting and cultural event rooted in traditions of peace and friendship, transformed into a platform for presenting the worst and darkest aspects of France as one of the claimants to influential standing in international affairs and one of the claimants to pioneering human rights.
