Pew Research Center: Christian and Muslim Population in 2050

The Pew Research Center has released projections regarding the ratio of Christian and Muslim populations in 2050 AD.

The Pew Research Center is an American think tank located in Washington, D.C. that provides information on issues, attitudes, and trends shaping the world and the United States. The aforementioned project collects surveys and public opinion reports across the globe in order to understand global attitudes on various topics.

According to the Pew Research Center’s projections on followers of various religions and faiths, as well as non-believers around the world over a 40-year period from 2010 to 2050 AD, Islam and Christianity will have the most followers globally. According to the research conducted, followers of Islam will be nearly equal to followers of Christianity with a very small margin, and Hindus will also outnumber non-believers.

Based on the Pew Research Center’s assessments and projections, in 2050 the number of Christians will exceed 2.9 billion people, and the Muslim population will exceed 2.75 billion people with a small difference compared to Christians. Among the world’s major religions, only the Buddhist population will experience a decline of 1.5 million.

Research conducted by the Pew Research Center indicates that over the 40-year period, the Muslim population will grow by more than 72 percent, and the Christian population will experience a growth rate of 34.58 percent.

The projection made by the Pew Research Center comes at a time when many countries have witnessed numerous crimes committed by the Islamic Republic government against the Iranian people over the past year, following widespread protests in Iran that began with the death of Mahsa Amini due to mandatory hijab laws, which are part of religious laws.

Crimes that the Islamic Republic system committed in response to people’s demands for rights, equality between men and women, freedom of speech and belief, voluntary dress code, and more. A situation where the system has involved religion in politics and forced people to comply with laws they do not accept themselves, resulting in disillusionment with Islam, which shows nothing but coercion and violence, and many people have turned to Christianity, in which they found love and truth.

It should be noted that as we witness many events happening around the world every day and peoples awakening, their eyes have always been on the mouths of clergy in various countries, politicians, and others so that by complying with their wishes they would grant them permission to reach their goals. But now, more than ever, people are more awake and choosing their own path. It is not impossible that the aforementioned statistics may change in the coming years, and these changes depend on the events that occur daily in Muslim-majority countries, Buddhism, non-believers, and other faiths, unveiling the curtain of lies, superstitions, theft, crimes, and other issues, and altogether changing the course of people’s beliefs.

Among the factors that could influence changes in the given statistics, the following can be mentioned:

  1. A regime change in Iran and support for Islamic radicalism will cause Muslims to change their views about their religion in countries such as Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and the Gaza Strip, which are Muslim-majority nations.
  2. The exposure of financial and moral corruption by Muslim religious leaders in the aforementioned areas and the Islamic government of Afghanistan will have a reverse effect on the process of promoting Islam’s growth.
  3. The wave of Islam-aversion will not end only in the aforementioned countries; rather, countries with Islamic inclinations in Northeast Asia should also be included among these nations.
  4. Muslims gaining access to free information after leaving Muslim-majority countries.

The matters mentioned are merely part of the events that could turn the statistics of global belief and faith upside down.
