Plundering of People Under the Guise of Taxes

The Islamic Republic government is demanding money from people in energy bills under the name of taxes.

According to the law on value-added tax for the supply of goods and provision of services in Iran, after calculating the amount of energy consumption and adding the amount of municipal fees and a partial fee as a subscription, a sum is obtained to which an additional 9 percent is added as value-added tax, and the resulting figure is the amount payable to the government.

A video has been published by citizens on social media pages showing that excess taxes beyond the set amount are being presented to customers in consumption bills, which indicates the plundering of people’s assets through consumption bills.

Most people pay little attention to the amounts written on their consumption bills and immediately proceed to pay them due to concerns about energy being cut off. However, with a little attention, they could notice the substantial sums that the government is collecting from 80 million Iranians under various pretexts through these consumption bills.

In the published video, a citizen reports that he must pay approximately 500,000 tomans extra for gas consumption.

In his published message, this citizen writes to do the math yourselves. 90 percent of consumption bills are sent electronically to consumers, and it is unclear how the accounting is being done behind the scenes.

The best way to bankrupt the government is not to pay bills. If all subscribers refuse to pay for six months, the government will face a serious budget deficit. The government does not want the country to go bankrupt, so it will be forced to act. This issue requires unity among the people so that everyone does this together.
