Advisor to European Institutions Tells Euronews: Europe’s New Sanctions Against Iran Cannot Be Avoided

On the eve of the European Union Foreign Ministers meeting on Monday, October 17 (September 25 in the Persian calendar) in Luxembourg, focused on imposing new sanctions against Iran, Majid Golpour, lecturer in political sociology and international relations and advisor to European institutions in Brussels, outlined the characteristics of these sanctions in an interview with Euronews.

This occurs as Politico reported yesterday that Iran has this week privately “pressured” European Union diplomats to set aside the imposition of new sanctions against Tehran due to the suppression of protests.

According to the report, Iran warned European diplomats that this measure could sever bilateral relations between Tehran and European countries.
