Farzaneh Ansarifer, Sister of One of the November Protests Victims, Arrested

Reports indicate that Farzaneh Ansarifer, the sister of one of the victims of last year’s November protests in Behbahan, has been arrested.
According to several news websites and observations by social media users, Ms. Ansarifer was arrested on Thursday July 26 following a protest gathering in Behbahan by security forces.
She is the sister of Farzad Ansarifer, one of the victims of last year’s November protests in Behbahan. Ms. Ansarifer had previously demanded justice for her brother’s death by sharing messages and videos, calling for the punishment of those responsible.
Last November, people took to the streets in various Iranian cities protesting against the sudden increase in gasoline prices. According to Reuters news agency, on Khamenei’s orders, approximately 1,500 protesters were killed. The Iranian government did not punish the suppression agents and instead arrested and convicted the protesters.
The United States says the Islamic Republic is spending the nation’s wealth on supporting terrorist groups and destabilizing the Middle East instead of serving the Iranian people. The United States has also repeatedly condemned the institutionalized financial corruption and plundering of Iran’s God-given resources by regime-affiliated officials, citing them as among the main causes of Iran’s economic and financial problems.
