Gantz: Nuclear Iran Will Fuel Regional Arms Race

Benny Gantz, Israel’s Defense Minister, views the danger of equipping the Islamic Republic of Iran with nuclear weapons as more significant than the threat to Israel’s security. Gantz has emphasized that an Iran equipped with nuclear weapons will be the beginning of a widespread arms race in the Middle East.

Israel’s Defense Minister has called on all countries in the world to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons before it is too late.

The “Times of Israel” newspaper covered Benny Gantz’s statements, Israel’s Defense Minister. In his interview with Channel 12 of Israeli television, Gantz stated: “Equipping Iran with nuclear weapons is not only a threat to Israel and will increase this country’s aggressive approach in the region, but it could also fuel an arms race in the region and endanger the security of many countries.”

Gantz said that such a development would mean that advanced weapons would fall into the hands of unstable and irresponsible governments controlled by “terrorists.”

Benny Gantz referred to the dangers stemming from the nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic at a time when Naftali Bennett, Israel’s Prime Minister, had met and held talks with Joe Biden, the President of the United States on Friday, August 27 in this regard.

Biden assured Israel’s Prime Minister at that meeting that the United States would prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, but is currently seeking to advance diplomatic efforts.
