Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Workers Hold Protest and Strike

Workers at Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company held a strike and gathered in front of the company’s management office on Tuesday.
According to a report from the independent Haft Tappeh Workers’ Channel, the immediate determination of the company’s management and transparency regarding the manner and price of its transfer are the primary demands of the striking Haft Tappeh workers.
The announcement of a verdict for Omid Asadbeigi and Mehrdad Rostami-Chegini in a case involving the misappropriation of 1.5 billion dollars is among other demands of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane workers.
Omid Asadbeigi and Mehrdad Rostami-Chegini purchased the Haft Tappeh Sugarcane Company, spanning 24,000 hectares, in winter 2016 with an advance payment of six billion tomans.
The trial of these two began after the exposure of the 1.5 billion dollar misappropriation case, along with 10 others, but was suspended last year.
