A Porter Wounded in Nousud Border Areas

A porter from Jojar Solath Babajani village in the Nousud border areas of Kermanshah Province was wounded as a result of gunfire by military forces.
According to a report by Hrana news agency, citing Kurdpa, a porter in the border areas of Nousud County in Kermanshah Province came under fire from military forces and was wounded.
According to the report, the porter’s identity has been identified as “Wazir Weesi” from Jojar Solath Babajani village.
The porter is currently hospitalized at Paveh Hospital for medical treatment.
Portering is a false and arduous occupation that people in border areas resort to due to lack of employment opportunities, with dozens of people killed or wounded annually either from natural hazards or as a result of gunfire by border guards.
A coalition of human rights activists in Iran previously released a joint report examining the conduct of military forces and casualties inflicted on citizens, particularly in border areas of the country during the 2018 timeframe.
According to the report, aside from material damages, killing of pack animals, and incidents such as frostbite and avalanches, the killing of 48 porters (border carriers) and wounding of 104 of them by border guard and law enforcement forces in the western and northwestern regions of the country have been documented.
According to these statistics, alongside individuals identified as porters, 300 citizens in 11 provinces of the country were affected by incidents directly or indirectly caused by military operations.
