Mike Pompeo: The World Should Know No Sanctions Prevent Sending Medicine and Medical Equipment to Iran

The U.S. Secretary of State reiterated on Wednesday, April 9, that the sanctions imposed by America against the Islamic Republic do not prevent the sending of medicine and medical equipment to Iran.

Mike Pompeo said at a press conference at the White House, in response to a question on this matter: The world should know that there are no sanctions in place to prevent the sending of medicine and medical equipment to Iran.

He said, from the very first day when the new coronavirus afflicted the people of Iran, we offered assistance, we proposed providing humanitarian aid, but unfortunately they decided not to accept it.

The U.S. Secretary of State added, I have heard some mention sanctions, but the world should know that there are no sanctions for blocking the sending of medicine, medical equipment, and humanitarian assistance to Iran.

The office of the spokesperson of the U.S. State Department on Monday afternoon, April 6, by issuing a statement while referring to the Islamic Republic’s infiltration campaign and that regime’s recent activities to lift sanctions, proceeded to explain the reasons for the necessity of maintaining and continuing the sanctions imposed against Iran.

The statement reads: “The goal of Iran’s covert and silent foreign infiltration campaign to lift sanctions is not the comfort and well-being of the Iranian people, but rather to raise money for its terrorist activities.”
