Teachers gather in various Iranian cities; at least three teachers have been arrested

Teachers in Iran held protest gatherings in various cities and outside education offices following a call by the Coordinating Council of Professional Associations of Iranian Educators.

 

According to reports from Iran, teachers gathered simultaneously on 12 Ordibehesht, Teachers’ Day in Iran. This gathering was held in response to a call by the Coordinating Council of Professional Associations of Iranian Educators.

The Coordinating Council of Professional Associations of Iranian Educators announced on its Telegram channel the arrest of three teachers.

According to reports from this council, teachers gathered in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Alborz, Isfahan, Tehran, South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Gilan, Hamadan, and Yazd.

The Coordinating Council of Professional Associations of Iranian Educators had previously issued a call criticizing “exploitative plans such as full-time teaching,” “commercial approach to schools,” “low wages,” “unpaid government debts,” and the arrest of labor activists, and called for teachers to gather.
