Hundreds of Priests Have Sexually Abused Children
A law office in Illinois state in the United States has released the names of hundreds of Catholic priests and stated that they have abused children in recent decades. Some dioceses have denied this report.
The law office of Jeff Anderson in Chicago has released the names of hundreds of Catholic priests and claimed that they have abused countless children over the past half century.
The aforementioned law office has taken on the representation of many children.
American newspapers that republished this report on Wednesday (March 20) stated: “The released data shows that in some cases priests continue to sexually abuse children to this day.”
The report mentions 395 clergy members, several of whom are nuns or trainees.
It is said that in the past there were occasional complaints against priests, but instead of investigating the crimes of those individuals, diocesan authorities transferred them to positions where they still had access to children.
Jeff Anderson, an attorney, accuses the Chicago diocese and other dioceses in Illinois state of not only failing to investigate these violations, but also of consistently attempting to conceal them.
The violations that occurred took place over approximately half a century, and most of the perpetrators have either died or retired to this day.
Some dioceses have denied this report and some have stated that they have submitted each disclosed case to judicial authorities.
