Iran Air Plane Catches Fire During Landing at Mehrabad

On Tuesday evening, an Iran Air passenger plane carrying approximately 100 passengers caught fire while landing at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.

Peymann Saberian, head of the country’s emergency services, described the incident: “After we were informed that unfortunately due to a technical defect at one of the airports, an aircraft experienced problems during landing, our forces were immediately dispatched to the scene with 2 ambulance buses and 10 ambulances.

He added: “Fortunately, after fuel was dumped from the aircraft and the plane exhausted its fuel, the runway was foamed and the plane landed safely, and this incident resulted in no injuries; all individuals who were on the plane have now been evacuated.”

According to a spokesman for the country’s emergency organization, the incident occurred at 21:00 this evening and 10 ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Tasnim reported that the aircraft was a Fokker type and landed without landing gear.
