Iran Continues Building Homes in Gaza; Donating 145-Square-Meter Houses to Former Hamas Prisoners

While Iranian people have repeatedly criticized the Islamic Republic’s spending on terrorist groups during recent protests, Hamas held a lottery among 125 people and donated 26 apartments built by Iran to 26 former members of the group who were previously imprisoned.

The website of Hamas’s Ministry of Prisoners reported that these apartments are 145 square meters in area and are located in a building named Al-Salahi, which was constructed by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Officials of the group stated that this is the first phase of such programs supported by Iran.

In the fall of last year, Mike Pompeo, the U.S. Secretary of State, said the leader of the Islamic Republic “must decide whether spending the money of the Iranian people on the Iranian people themselves is more important, or on devising new ways to finance Bashar Assad, Hezbollah, Hamas, or other terrorists.”

The Islamic Republic’s action of building homes for Hamas members comes at a time when protesters in recent years’ gatherings have chanted slogans against Iran’s financial aid to various Palestinian and Lebanese groups.
