Sympathy of Religious Authority for Muslim Refugees Converting to ‘Christianity’!
Sheikh Jafar Sobhani stated in his remarks that Muslim refugees resorting to ‘Christianity’ is a disgrace!
Until recently, clerics and religious authorities who were guiding state security and intelligence services of the Islamic Republic and government-affiliated media to counter the spread and growth of Christianity in the country, now the conversion of Muslim refugees to Christianity in European countries has become so widespread that it appears to have become burdensome for the clergy institution.
Less than two weeks after Sheikh Jafar Sobhani claimed “Christians in the West doubt their religion and say it is uncertain whether Christ ever existed,” he now says that Muslims resorting to the Christian institution out of fear of crimes committed by takfiri groups is a “shameful” action!
Of course, he blamed the Saudi government for regional wars and asked, “Why do Saudi kings, who pray at prayer times, commit such massacres in Yemen?” Sobhani answered his own question, saying “All these killings are the responsibility of Wahhabis who pray at prayer times but without reverence, and their hearts have not surrendered to God.”
He expressed regret over the migration of war-stricken people to Europe and their drowning in the seas, saying, “Is it not shameful that two Islamic governments fight each other and people flee and seek refuge with Christians?”
It is unclear whether Sobhani’s reference to the war between two Islamic governments means Syria and Iraq’s conflict with ISIS, or Saudi Arabia and Bahrain’s war!
On the one hand, the Islamic Republic does not recognize ISIS as an Islamic state, and on the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen is not with the legitimate government of Yemen but with a group of Houthi Muslims who were under Iran’s support.
Sobhani not only lacks knowledge in political science and analysis of regional conditions, but also has poor geography, as he mistakenly believes that Yemeni people flee by sea like Syrians and Iraqis to reach Europe.
Ayatollah and seminary professor in Qom, with this level of literacy, has come up with a complicated prescription to end the crisis, saying that by any means necessary, one must escape from the clutches of tyranny of these so-called Muslims who are non-Muslims, and it is time that they focus on their own affairs and Islamic scholars sit down and admonish these leaders!”
Jafar Sobhani’s name, apart from his strange statements, is intertwined with insulting and targeted attacks on Christians.
On one day he claims “the texture of Mecca’s city has become European,” and on another day, by announcing the news that 600 people in Khuzestan converted to Christianity, he claims “the enemies of the revolution, by giving money and resources, are turning Khuzestan’s people away from Shi’ism and forming house churches.”
Sometimes he takes issue with students who have abandoned the seminaries and says “their only concern should be studies, do not seek additional work and travel less.”
However, his statements always contain information that is inadvertently revealing. Including this very conversion of Muslims in Europe. Of course, he has not made specific reference to statistics of Iranians who convert to Christianity outside the country.
Although he claims that Arab refugees in countries where there is war are converting to Christianity in European countries, according to official news and reports, Iranians still have the highest number of conversions to Christianity.
In recent months, hundreds of Muslim refugees in various European countries have converted to Christianity.
