No Information on Fate of Two 17-Year-Old Kurdish Teenagers After Arrest in Sanandaj and Baneh

Diari Abdi, a 17-year-old student from Sanandaj, and Mohammad Lotfi, a 17-year-old teenager from Saghez currently residing in Baneh, were arrested by security forces on the 27th and 28th of Mehr. Several days after their detention, clear information about their whereabouts and the reasons for their arrest remains unavailable.

According to reports from several human rights organizations, Diari Abdi was arrested on Monday, the 27th of Mehr 1405, near Mardokh Bridge in Sanandaj by IRGC intelligence forces without presentation of a court order. After his arrest, he only briefly contacted his family to inform them of his detention, and since then no further information about his condition has been available.

Mohammad Lotfi was also arrested on Tuesday, the 28th of Mehr, during a raid by the Intelligence Ministry forces on his workplace in Baneh and transferred to an unknown location. He is 17 years old, originally from Saghez, and had dropped out of school due to financial hardship, working in a shop. According to reports from the HANA human rights organization, this teenager has been denied access to a lawyer, contact, and visits with his family since his arrest.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network has also issued separate reports about the condition of these two teenagers, stating that their place of detention is unknown and no information about possible charges against them is available.

Until the time of publication of this report, no official explanation has been released regarding the reasons for the arrest of Diari Abdi and Mohammad Lotfi. The continued lack of information about the condition of these two teenagers has increased concerns about their detention conditions and their access to their legal rights.
