Civil registration statistics: 110,000 additional deaths in the first half of 1400

New civil registration statistics show that more than 290,000 deaths occurred in Iran in the first half of 1400.

This is while in the same period of years before the outbreak of the Corona virus, the death rate in the first six months of the year has always fluctuated around 181,000 people.

The archive of civil registration statistics shows that the number of deaths in the first half of 2016 was about 178,000, and in the same period from 2017 to 2019, it was 181,000, 182,000, and 186,000, respectively.

This figure had reached about 235,000 in the first half of last year, when the country was struggling with the coronavirus.

Thus, in the first half of this year, the number of deaths in the country was nearly 110,000, and in the first half of last year, about 53,000 more than the average number in the same period of the years before the coronavirus outbreak.

However, official statistics show the number of coronavirus victims in the country to be much lower than these figures.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health indicate that in the first six months of 2021, a little over 56,000 people died from COVID-19, and in the first half of 2022, about 23,000 people died from the disease.

Previously, some officials, including officials from the Iranian Medical System Organization, had stated that the actual number of coronavirus deaths was two to three times the official figure.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health show that 118,000 people have died from the virus in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

On the other hand, civil registration statistics indicate that a total of 507,000 deaths were recorded in the country last year, which was about 130,000 more than the average death rate in 2016-17.

In the first half of this year, the number of deaths in the entire country was nearly 110,000 more than in the same period from 2016 to 2019.

This raises speculation that the actual number of coronavirus deaths in the country could be more than double what the Ministry of Health statistics show.
