Execution of the death sentence of political prisoner "Mohieddin Ebrahimi"

The death sentence of political prisoner Mohieddin Ebrahimi was carried out this Friday morning, March 16.

Mohiuddin Ebrahimi, 43, from Oshnaviyeh and a father of two disabled children, was shot by forces stationed in Oshnaviyeh while carrying a kolbari in 2017 and then arrested. After a year in prison, Ebrahimi was sentenced to death on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network had previously announced that he had been arrested by security forces in 2008 on charges of collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties and released after serving 14 months in prison.

The Islamic Republic government carried out Ebrahimi's death sentence just three days before the new solar year, and since last night (Thursday), a large number of people in Urmia had gathered in front of the city's central prison, demanding that his death sentence be overturned.

Also, according to the Hengaw human rights organization, Noureddine Ebrahimi, Mohiuddin's brother, was killed in May 2017 while carrying a kolbari at the Oshnavieh border by direct fire from government forces. According to the human rights organization, the Revolutionary Guard Corps had also killed the father of this political prisoner.
