Execution of a prisoner in Dezful Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, Thursday, March 3, the sentence of a prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer was carried out in Dezful Prison.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Tasnim, a prisoner was executed in Dezful Prison at dawn today, Thursday, March 1, 2021.

The Shusha Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor announced this news, stating that the aforementioned prisoner had previously been sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer named Abbas Naderi, and his sentence had been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death between January 1, 2021 and December 20, 2021. Among those executed, four child criminals were executed.

According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial institutions, which human rights organizations call "secret" executions.
