Arrests of economic suspects continue in Iran; a customs director general was arrested

Following the recent arrests by the Islamic Republic in connection with economic cases in Iran, the Ministry of Intelligence has announced the arrest of one of the general directors of customs.
The Fars news agency, close to the Revolutionary Guards, reported on Wednesday, March 29, citing the Ministry of Intelligence, that "a number of employees, associates, brokers, and a customs director general" had been arrested in a case titled "economic corruption."
In recent months, the Iranian government has cracked down on individuals in the name of combating economic disruptors and corruption, and has executed several people on the same charges.
Cases of economic corruption have also increased in Iran. Not long ago, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted about the Islamic Republic's officials, saying that instead of helping the people, they were involved in corruption and were spending people's wealth to support terrorists.
