Sending hundreds of tons of free food to Karbala

FCNN News Agency: The latest surveys by the Statistical Center of Iran show that food poverty increased sevenfold in cities and eightfold in villages between 2004 and 2013. Social and economic experts consider these statistics to indicate an increase in poverty in society and believe that poverty indicators in Iran have not yet improved.

According to the same statistics, the unemployment rate in Iran is also on an upward trend. According to the Center for Statistics, the unemployment rate this summer has reached 12.7 percent, which is an increase of 1.8 percent compared to last summer.

 

Meanwhile, Hossein Mohajeran, head of the Fruit and Vegetable Sellers Union, announced the sending of hundreds of tons of free fruits and vegetables to Karbala on the occasion of Arbaeen, saying, "Currently, the domestic fruit market is sluggish and it does not seem like we will face a significant price increase in the coming months."

According to him, the shipments include rice, tomatoes, and various fruits and vegetables.
