One in three Iranians is poor.

The Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly reported that one in three Iranians is poor.
The Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly published a report in which it reported a 0.4 percent increase in the poverty rate in 1402, which has now reached one-third of the population.
This report was published at a time when the Islamic Republic government was hoping that the poverty rate would be reduced through economic growth; however, these reports show that more than a third of Iranians are unable to meet their basic needs.
According to economic experts, the increase in the poverty rate in Iran indicates that the government's supportive policies in previous years have not had a positive impact on people's purchasing power, and the targeting of subsidies has not met expectations.
The rise in the dollar exchange rate has caused the prices of some consumer goods, including red meat, to rise sharply. The increase in the price of bread in Iran has also been stable over the past months, and there is also a possibility of an increase in the price of gasoline, which could lead to an increase in the prices of all goods, a problem that experts believe could become a reality in the coming months.
Economists also stressed that the general disorder in the field of production and sales has led to a continuous increase in inflation, which has resulted in an increase in the poverty rate. According to official statistics in Iran, inflation has reached 35 percent this year (1403) and the government hopes that the figure will decrease by about 8 percent by the end of next year. But the government's optimism will only come true if oil sales do not decrease and the inflamed social conditions that have now arisen due to the threat of war subside. The current situation in Iran has even made it impossible for Iran to think about large foreign investments, and in the event of a war between Iran and Israel, all economic components will collapse.
The Majlis Research Center emphasized in its report that the government must find appropriate solutions to energy imbalances, banking imbalances, budget deficits, and price stabilization policies, so that it can perhaps reduce the poverty rate in Iran.
Economic experts announced that the government needs 300 trillion tomans to meet the public budget, but determining the resources to address this deficit has become a mystery. According to experts, the targeting of subsidies is also a weakness of the current and previous governments. Official statistics also show that the country's per capita income has decreased due to negative economic growth in recent years. This has caused households to eat smaller.
