After months of detention, Ismail Bakhshi was temporarily released on bail of 750 million

Esmael Bakhshi, a labor activist who has been in detention for about a year and faces a heavy sentence of 14 years in prison, has been temporarily released on bail of 750 million.
Labor activist Esmaeil Bakhshi has been in detention since February of last year. He was temporarily released on Wednesday, November 29.
Farzaneh Zeilabi, Mr. Bakhshi's lawyer, had previously announced that her client would be released today, and at the same time said that "Esmael Bakhshi's release was delayed due to the delay that the Dezful Prosecutor's Office had in posting bail."
Esmael Bakhshi is a labor activist who was arrested during the Haft Tappeh sugarcane workers’ protests and, after his release, stated that he had been tortured. The labor activist’s statements led to his arrest again in February of last year, along with civil society activist Sepideh Qolyan.
Bakhshi and Qolyan's forced confessions were also broadcast on television after their arrest, which drew much criticism.
On Saturday, November 25, six labor and civil society activists, including Sepideh Gholian, Marzieh Amiri, Amirhossein Amiri, and Atefeh Rangriz, were temporarily released on bail.
Sepideh Gholian's lawyer announced on Sunday that her client's bail amount would be 500 million tomans.
The United States has repeatedly condemned Iran's security crackdown on various segments of the population, including workers and women. The US State Department recently said in a message that the Islamic Republic's regime could have paid the salaries of workers in Iran with the money it has spent in Syria.
