Rising gasoline prices put "60,000" Iranian fishermen out of work

Iran Newspaper reported that 60,000 fishermen have been directly unemployed due to the increase in gasoline prices and the critical situation of their families.
According to a report on Monday, January 29, this newspaper said, "it is not cost-effective for fishermen to purchase 50 to 150 liters of gasoline daily at a price of 3,000 tomans per liter," and they have been forced to stop their work.
The newspaper wrote that after more than a month of the threefold increase in gasoline prices, on Sunday, January 28, a monthly quota of 1,200 liters of gasoline at a rate of 1,500 tomans for authorized gasoline-burning vessels was determined and approved.
Ishaq Tandaro, chairman of the board of directors of the Fishermen's Union, also told this newspaper: "Since gasoline rationing began, they have not given even a liter of gasoline to fishermen."
Pointing out that the lack of rationed gasoline has directly rendered 60,000 fishermen unemployed, he said that due to the decrease in catches, this has also affected the price of fish, and "the price of fish, which was 40,000 tomans per kilo until a month ago, has now increased to 85,000 tomans and even higher."
