Earthquake and 37 aftershocks in Khorasan Razavi

On Wednesday morning (May 4), a magnitude 3.5 earthquake at a depth of seven kilometers shook Sefid Sang in Khorasan Razavi Province. Two other earthquakes occurred in the early hours of the morning. The first quake was also felt in Mashhad.
At 1:24 a.m. on Wednesday (May 3), an earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale shook Khorasan Razavi. Two other earthquakes shook the Sang Sefid and Nasrabad areas at 7:56 a.m. and 8:02 a.m. (local time). No reports of casualties or possible damage from these earthquakes have been released.
The Sang Sefid region is located 100 kilometers northeast of Mashhad.
Morteza Salimi, head of the Iranian Relief and Rescue Organization, announced that 12 Red Crescent assessment teams have been dispatched to the region. ISNA quoted Salimi as saying: “The cities of Fariman, Sarakhs, Torbat Jam and Mashhad have been affected by this earthquake.”
The head of the relief and rescue organization said that as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, no reports of casualties or property damage had been submitted in the assessment of 35 villages.
ISNA news agency wrote that as of 9 a.m. Wednesday (local time), 37 aftershocks had been recorded in Khorasan Razavi by the Geophysics Institute.
