Spike in Executions Over Past Ten Days

Iran’s Human Rights Organization reported an increase in the number of executions over the past ten days.

Mahmoud Amiri-Moghadam, director of Iran’s Human Rights Organization, stated in a report: “The Islamic Republic has executed one person every six hours over the past ten days, without any response from the international community.”

According to the report, the number of executions in recent days has reached at least 42 people. Among the aforementioned executions are 22 Baluch citizens. Qarchak Prison in Karaj had previously announced that execution sentences would be carried out soon. Following the execution of two inmates detained on drug charges at the prison, this number reached 42.

The Human Rights Organization warned about widespread executions taking place at Qarchak Prison located in Karaj and called on the international community to respond to the implementation of executions in Iran.

According to the organization’s report, 194 inmates have been executed in Iran since the beginning of 2023. It should be noted that news of the execution of Habib Esyoud, an Iranian-Swedish citizen, was also released Saturday morning, corresponding to the 6th of Ordibehesht. Habib Esyoud had been previously abducted from Turkey and transferred to Iran.
