Increasing judicial pressure on the family of Farzad Ansarifar, one of the victims of the November 2019 protests in Behbahan

A source close to the family of Farzad Ansarifar, one of the victims of the November 2019 protests in Behbahan, told Voice of America's Persian service on Monday, February 8, that while the second round of the November 2019 People's Court was being held in London, judicial authorities, while pressuring Ansarifar's family, have filed three separate cases against Farzaneh Ansarifar, the verdict of one of which will be announced in a few days.

According to this report, a court hearing was held last Wednesday for one of the cases involving Farzaneh Ansarifar (sister of Farzad Ansarifar), but she was unable to attend due to illness. However, this informed source quoted Ms. Ansarifar's defense lawyer as saying that a verdict in one of the cases has been issued and will be announced.

This informed source emphasized that judicial authorities are “putting a lot of pressure” on the Ansarifar family, saying, “They have gone to everyone who has been in contact with them and taken them [for interrogation and threats].”

According to this report, three different summonses have been sent to Farzaneh Ansarifar over the past month.

According to an informed source, in addition to the three cases filed against Farzaneh Ansarifar, notices have also been sent to her father, brother, and sister to appear in the Behbahan (Revolution) Court within five days, but they have not appeared.

A person close to the Ansarifar family, emphasizing that in addition to killing Farzad, they have previously burned down his sister's house and car and arrested two of his uncles, said: "Now, with increasing pressure on this family, in addition to filing three cases against Farzaneh Ansarifar, they have also summoned her father, brother, and sister by sending notices."

Amin Ansarifar, the father of Farzad Ansarifar, was one of those who appeared online and testified in the first round of the November 2019 People's Court in London.
