Shahla Jahanbin and Shahla Entesari, two civil activists and signatories of the letter calling for Ayatollah Khamenei's resignation, were summoned to the Evin Prison's Sentence Execution Unit to serve their 27-month sentences.

In mid-August 2019, a letter signed by 14 civil activists calling for Ayatollah Khamenei's resignation was published. With the publication of this letter, a number of signatories were arrested and some were pressured. Following this letter, another letter with similar content was published under the title 14 Female Civil Activists. Shahla Jahanbin and Shahla Entesari are two of the signatories of the statement by 14 female civil activists calling for Ayatollah Khamenei's resignation.

Shahla Jahanbin and Shahla Entesari were arrested in late August of last year in this connection. Shahla Jahanbin was temporarily released from Evin Prison on November 12, 2019, and Shahla Entesari was temporarily released on November 19, 2019, each after posting bail of 500 million Tomans, pending the completion of the trial.

These two civil activists, along with Giti Pourfazel and Zahra Jamali, who are currently serving their sentences in Evin Prison, were ultimately tried by the Tehran Revolutionary Court and each was sentenced to 6 years in prison on charges of gathering, collusion, and propaganda against the regime. The sentence assigned to each of these citizens was reduced to 44 months in prison for reasons including being mothers and having no criminal record. This sentence was reduced to 33 months in prison for each of them after the verdict was not appealed and the verdict was submitted to the court, which, according to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, is 27 months in prison for each of them.

Abbas Vahedian Shahroudi, a writer, teacher, civil activist, and wife of Ms. Jahanbin, is one of the signatories of the statement of 14 civil activists calling for the resignation of Ayatollah Khamenei. He was temporarily released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on July 10 of this year upon receiving a warrant.
