Ejei: Images of Evin Prison Officers' Behavior Should Be Investigated Immediately

Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran's judiciary, says he has ordered the country's attorney general to immediately investigate the published images of the mistreatment of prisoners in Evin Prison.
In a letter published in Iranian media, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei has ordered the country's Attorney General, Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, to "immediately" investigate the content of videos recently released about the mistreatment of prisoners in Evin Prison.
In this letter, the head of Iran's judiciary asked Montazeri to conduct a comprehensive and swift investigation into this issue and "the treatment of officers with prisoners or prisoners with prisoners."
On Sunday, August 22, the human rights website HRANA published a video that allegedly shows the hacking of Evin Prison's surveillance cameras.
The report stated that a hacking group called “Adalat Ali” had hacked the cameras of Evin Prison. The released video included scenes of the mistreatment of a political prisoner in Evin.
After that, other videos about the mistreatment of prisoners were published on social media.
Following the publication of these videos, Mohammad Mehdi Hajmohammadi, head of the Iranian Prisons Organization, apologized and in a tweet described the treatment in Evin Prison as "unacceptable."
Images of mistreatment of prisoners in Evin Prison have also been reflected in international media and news agencies.
