Nearly one million students drop out of school

According to statistics provided by the Statistical Center of Iran, in 1399-1400, about 970,871 students in the country dropped out of school.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Hamshahri, nearly 1 million students in the country were excluded from education last year.

According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the number of dropouts from primary education in the 1399-1400 academic year has increased compared to previous years. As the Statistical Center of Iran announced, the number of dropouts from primary education in the 1396-1395 academic year is 161,867 out of 7,451,981 students. This number has increased from 8,233,985 students in the 1399-1400 academic year to 210,221. The share of boys who dropped out of primary education in the 1396-1400 academic year was 82,04, which increased to 113,396 in the 1399-1400 academic year. The number of girls in the same period has also increased from 79,863 to 96,825.

The number of dropouts in the 1395-1396 academic year at the lower and upper secondary levels was 215,681 and 370,363, respectively. This figure reached 204,735 and 565,915, respectively, at the lower and upper secondary levels in the 1399-1400 academic year. These numbers show that, with the exception of lower secondary levels, the number of dropouts has increased at both primary and upper secondary levels.

This figure is higher among girls in the lower secondary school. The share of boys who dropped out of school in the 1396-1395 academic year was 81,974, which increased to 91,796 in 1400-1399. Girls in the same level also increased from 133,707 to 112,939. In the upper secondary school, this number among boys increased from 166,508 in the 1396-1395 academic year to 284,067 in the 1399-1400 academic year. This figure among girls increased from 203,855 to 281,848.

Among those who drop out of school, the share of boys is usually higher, especially in the primary and secondary levels, and it has even increased in the last academic year.

According to the statistics provided, in 1399-1400, about 970,871 students in the country were excluded from education.
