Biden: Russia will face sanctions if it attacks Ukraine

Joe Biden, the US President, announced that in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, he is considering imposing sanctions against Putin. The US President said this attack would be the largest aggression since World War II and would change the world.

Joe Biden, the US President, announced on Tuesday evening, February 5 (January 25) in Washington during his press conference in the capital that in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, it is possible to impose crippling sanctions against Vladimir Putin, the Russian President.

Biden did not provide further explanation in this regard but once again threatened Russia with “severe consequences” of this attack and “strong economic sanctions.” He added that ultimately everything depends on Putin’s decision regarding Ukraine.

With the extensive deployment of Russian forces near Ukraine’s borders, there is concern in the West that the Kremlin may be planning an attack on the neighboring country. However, some observers believe that it is possible that the matter is intended to persuade NATO countries to make concessions to Russia regarding new security guarantees.

Russia has denied any possible plans to attack Ukraine and instead opposes any other Eastern European country’s joining NATO. Moscow is seeking a guarantee that Kyiv will never enter the NATO alliance.

“The largest aggression since World War II”

Biden said that given the extensive presence of Russian military forces near the border, a Russian attack on Ukraine could be the “largest aggression since World War II.” The US President emphasized that such action would change the world.

According to reports, Russia has deployed approximately 100,000 soldiers along its border with Ukraine.

Following the deployment of Russian forces to the Ukrainian border, the United States has also put 8,500 of its military personnel on alert. These units are on alert by order of Joe Biden, the President, and on the recommendation of Lloyd Austin, the US Secretary of Defense.
