Behnam Ebrahimzadeh sentenced to six years in prison and copying of three books

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, a labor activist and member of the Society for the Defense of Child Labor, was sentenced to a total of six years in prison, reading and copying three books, on charges of "membership in groups opposed to the regime" and "propaganda against the regime."

A source close to Mr. Ebrahimzadeh's family told VOA on Thursday, March 6: The court session was held on March 26 without the presence of the lawyer and the prosecutor's representative in Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran, under the judgment of Judge Iman Afshari.

According to this informed source, the court's verdict was delivered to Mr. Ebrahimzadeh in prison on March 3, and a period of 20 days from the date of delivery of the verdict has been set for "appeal".

This labor activist was temporarily released from Evin Prison on Monday, March 4, after posting a bail of 200 million Tomans.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, who was arrested on December 11 at his home in Tehran, was informed at the time of his arrest that he had been sentenced to 18 months in prison in absentia in Kermanshah on November 19 of this year.
