Retirees' rally continues in the shadow of corruption cases in Iran

While corruption cases have increased in recent months, a group of retirees once again gathered in front of the Pension Fund in Tehran to demand an increase in their pensions.
A rally of retirees was held in front of the Pension Fund in Tehran on Monday, June 10, and protesters demanded an increase in salaries, the implementation of the Civil Service Law on equalization, and an upgrade in the level of health services provided by their insurance companies.
Pensioner protests have intensified since late 2018, and several rallies have been held to address livelihood problems.
These protest rallies by retirees from various professions, including educators, come at a time when, following recent price increases, the number of economic corruption cases, some of whose defendants include well-known officials and individuals, has increased in Iran.
Not long ago, Milad Salehi, CEO of the Pension Fund, announced on his Instagram page that he had identified "several hundred billion tomans" of corruption in the fund.
Also, Mohammad Shariatmadari, the Minister of Labor and Cooperatives of Iran, whose son-in-law Hadi Razavi is accused of economic corruption, announced on June 1 that claims of more than 13 trillion tomans had not been collected by Shasta Company (an investment holding company owned by the Iranian Social Security Organization).
Not long ago, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in several tweets about the Islamic Republic's officials that instead of helping the people, they were involved in corruption.
