Fathers and mothers of the people of Dadkhah gather at the grave of Mehrdad Moinfar, one of the people killed in November 2019.

A number of fathers and mothers of the people gathered at the grave of Mehrdad Moinfar, one of those killed in the November 2019 protests, on Friday, November 27, coinciding with the commemoration of Cyrus the Great.
At this ceremony, Iran Allahyari, Mehrdad's mother, was present among a number of mothers of the plaintiffs and blew out his birthday candle, wishing for "the freedom of Iran and the destruction of the murderers of the victims of November 98 and all the victims of Iran after the 1999 revolution."
A number of fathers of the petitioners and families of those who died in November 2019 were also present at the ceremony and, in similar speeches, called for the destruction of the Islamic Republic.
Mehrdad Moinfar, one of those killed in the November 2019 protests, was born on November 27, 1987, a chemistry graduate and a pharmacy employee.
He was killed on November 16, 2019, by a direct bullet to the heart at the hands of counter-riot forces in Shahriar, Tehran. His father, in the short time he had the opportunity to see his body, confirmed that his head was fractured by a baton and that he had scratches on parts of his body.
The family of Pouya Bakhtiari, another of those killed in the November 2019 protests, also congratulated the Iranian nation on the anniversary of Cyrus the Great on Friday evening by releasing a video alongside a cake with the image of Cyrus the Great and holding photos of Pouya Bakhtiari.
Pouya Bakhtiari was among those killed in the November 2019 protests in Mehrshahr, Karaj, when she was shot in the head by security officers and died. Her father is currently in prison as a result of the ongoing protests.
The November 2019 protests, which were initially a reaction to the sudden increase in gasoline prices, quickly changed direction and targeted the Islamic Republic government. However, these protests were met with severe repression by military and law enforcement officials.
Iran's interior minister had previously said that between 200 and 225 people were killed in the protests, but Amnesty International has given the death toll at 307 and stressed that the death toll could be much higher. Reuters has also put the death toll at around 1,500.
Meanwhile, Saeed Afkari, Navid Afkari's brother, tweeted on Friday, November 27, that his parents were arrested by 15 security forces while carrying a birthday cake with the image of Cyrus and were released an hour later.
Navid Afkari, a former wrestler, was arrested after participating in the August 2018 protests and charged with the murder of a security guard. Despite numerous ambiguities announced by his lawyers and a global campaign opposing his execution, he was executed and buried at night on September 12.
