Continued arrest of civil activist Ali Nouri

Ali Nouri, a civil activist and former political prisoner who was previously arrested for his civil activities and released on parole after serving one-third of his sentence, was arrested by security forces in Valiasr Square in Tehran on January 29, 2019, while he was serving his military service, and transferred to Evin Prison. Reports emerged at the time of his arrest that he had a heart condition. Despite the fact that 28 days had passed since his arrest, this citizen is still in prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Ali Nouri, a civil engineer and former political prisoner who was serving his sentence during the recent protests, has been in detention since January 29.

Previously, a source informed about the prisoner's health condition told HRANA, "On January 13, Ali suffered from severe chest pain, so he was taken to the prison infirmary by the prisoners. The problem was diagnosed as a heart condition."

It is worth noting that Ali Nouri was born in 1993 and was first arrested on Wednesday, October 6, 2014, after participating in a rally in support of Kobani in front of the United Nations. After being arrested, he was transferred to Ward 2-A of the IRGC and, after long interrogations and solitary confinement, he was transferred to General Ward 8 of Evin Prison, where financial prisoners are held.

Shortly after being released on bail of fifty million Tomans, he was sentenced to seven years in prison in the first instance.

Based on the verdict issued by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal by Judges Ghomizadeh and Hozvan for four civil activists: Atena (Fatemeh) Daemi, Omid Alishenas, Aso Rostami, and Ali Nouri, their prison sentences from the first instance court were reduced from 14, 10, 7, and 7 years to 7, 7, 2, and 2 years, respectively.

Mr. Nouri was charged in court with gathering, collusion, and propaganda activities against the regime, and on March 15 of last year, he was conditionally released from prison after serving a third of his two-year prison sentence.
