IRGC attacks on Kurdistan Region leave 13 dead and 58 injured

The Iraqi state news agency reported that the death toll from Iranian attacks on the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, October 26, has risen to 13, with 58 people injured.

In these attacks, the Revolutionary Guards have targeted positions in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and the city of Sulaymaniyah.

These attacks took place amid nationwide protests in Iran that began following the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the Ershad patrol.

The commander of the IRGC Ground Forces said on Wednesday that in these attacks, "anti-Iranian terrorist positions deep in the northern Iraqi region" were targeted by the IRGC Ground Forces' drone and missile units.

Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour stated: "So far, 73 surface-to-surface ballistic missiles and dozens of drones have accurately hit the intended positions and targets in the terrorists' locations and activities, leading to their complete destruction."

Iran is in a military conflict with the Komala organization and the Kurdistan Freedom Party, calling them "terrorist groups."

Mr. Khakpour emphasized in his statements that the IRGC's attacks "will continue until the anti-Iranian and separatist terrorist groups are completely disarmed."

News sources in Iraqi Kurdistan have confirmed that Komala positions around Sulaymaniyah and the Kurdistan Freedom Party around Erbil were targeted.

Reza Kaabi, deputy secretary general of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, told Kurdistan 24: "Some of the camp buildings have been destroyed."

According to the IRNA news agency, "360 precision-guided missiles from the IRGC Ground Force, as well as suicide drones from the IRGC's combat organization, were used in these attacks."

A Kurdish activist also confirmed in an interview with Radio Farda that an American citizen of Kurdish descent was killed in these attacks, saying that the person was killed during the attack on the refugee camp.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command, CENTCOM, announced the downing of an Iranian drone on Wednesday.

According to a CENTCOM statement, at 2:10 p.m. local time on Wednesday, the U.S. military shot down an Iranian drone that was heading toward Erbil, Iraq and appeared to be a threat to American forces.
