Continued detention of "Nasim Gholami Simyari" in Evin Prison

The arrest of "Nasim Gholami Simiari" continues unsolved, despite the passage of more than 390 days since her arrest.

Nasim Gholami, born in 1988, was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents in Tehran on May 18, 1402. After her arrest, she was transferred to Ward 1A of the IRGC and interrogated in solitary confinement. After two months, she was transferred to Ward 2A, and finally, on October 2, 1402, she was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison.

Ms. Gholami was indicted by investigator Naser Jalayer Sartaghi at Evin Prosecutor's Office 5 months after her arrest on charges of gathering and collusion, propaganda against the regime, and rebellion. She was subjected to mental and physical torture during her arrest, and while she was in detention, forced confessions were taken from her in front of a video camera. The confessions were written down in dictation and forced by the interrogator.

An informed source close to the politically accused Nasim Gholami said: "Ms. Gholami has been indicted three times at the Evin Prosecutor's Office for the charges brought against her, 392 days after her arrest, but no court hearing has been held to hear her charges so far, and she is still in the women's ward of Evin Prison in limbo."

In November of last year, he went on a hunger strike to protest his precarious detention, eating only water, sugar, and salt. He also wrote a letter explaining the reasons for his hunger strike and announcing that he would continue his hunger strike until the precarious detention ended.

In the aforementioned letter, he stated his demands for an end to the hunger strike, "an end to the indefinite temporary detention, a legal hearing of the charges in a competent court, or the conversion of the temporary detention order into bail and release until the trial."

Many prisoners in a situation similar to Nasim Gholami are forced to go on hunger strike and use it as a last resort to achieve their demands, which severely endangers their lives.
